Personalized Treatment

The way we work together in therapy is shaped by your unique goals, experiences, and challenges. I take a collaborative and individualized approach to treatment, tailoring sessions to meet your needs and priorities. Whether you’re navigating anxiety, relationship issues, trauma, or life transitions, therapy is a space where we explore what matters most to you and develop strategies that foster growth, healing, and resilience.

Therapeutic Approaches I Use in Counselling

I draw from a range of evidence-based therapeutic modalities to guide our work together. These approaches support emotional insight, enhance self-awareness, and promote meaningful change. Depending on your needs, our sessions may incorporate elements of Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, Dialectical Behaviour Therapy, Emotion-Focused Therapy, and other integrative methods. Below, you’ll find an overview of the core approaches I use in my practice.

CBT is a practical, evidence-based therapy that helps clients understand how their thoughts, emotions, and behaviours are connected. I use CBT to support people in recognizing unhelpful thinking patterns and developing healthier responses to stress, anxiety, and mood challenges. It’s structured, collaborative, and focused on developing effective coping strategies.

This specialized form of CBT is designed to help individuals process and heal from traumatic experiences. I integrate trauma-focused CBT to support both youth and adults in building safety, emotional regulation, and resilience while gently addressing trauma-related memories. It combines skill-building with trauma processing in a sensitive and structured way.

DBT focuses on finding balance between acceptance and change. It is particularly helpful for emotion regulation, distress tolerance, and improving relationships. In my practice, I use DBT-informed strategies to support clients dealing with intense emotions, self-criticism, or interpersonal conflict — helping them develop greater self-awareness and practical tools for managing stress.

EFT helps clients identify, experience, and transform emotions that may be underlying distress. This approach supports deeper self-understanding and emotional healing. I use EFT to help clients explore the meaning behind their emotions, strengthen self-compassion, and process unresolved feelings in a safe, supportive space.

This approach centers on understanding how early relationships and attachment patterns influence our current emotional lives and relationships. I use attachment-based therapy to support clients in building secure connections, addressing relational wounds, and fostering greater emotional safety — especially in work with teens, parents, and individuals healing from relational trauma.

SFT is a brief, goal-oriented approach that emphasizes a person’s strengths and resources. Instead of focusing on problems, it helps clients envision their preferred future and take small, manageable steps toward it. I often integrate solution-focused strategies to support clarity, momentum, and confidence in clients seeking change.

MI is a client-centered, collaborative approach designed to help individuals explore and resolve ambivalence about change. I use MI techniques to support clients who may feel stuck or uncertain about next steps — whether in addressing mental health concerns, changing behaviours, or moving toward their goals with clarity and intention.

Prolonged Exposure is a structured approach to treating PTSD and trauma-related symptoms by helping individuals gradually confront trauma memories and reminders in a safe, controlled way. I offer this therapy to support clients in reducing avoidance, processing past trauma, and reclaiming a sense of control and safety in their lives.
